Irish Canoe Polo Club Championships 2018

The 2018 Irish Canoe Polo Club Championships are being hosted by Royal Canal Canoe Club in Phibsborough, Dublin 7. The competition is being held on Saturday and Sunday the 11th and 12th of August.


The competition is running  Div 1, 2, 3  categories, it will also run a Woman’s Club Division and as a knock out competition for qualification for the purpose of having a Woman’s Club Champion and for qualification  for the 2018 ECA European Club Championships in Nottingham in September.

Male Qualification for the 2018 ECA European Club Championships will be run within the Division 1 Category

We have decide to experiment and also run a knock out competition at U18 category. (Players must be under the age of 18 at the begining of 2018)

Teams must have their entries in by the 5th of August, Entry Fees are €135 and must be paid to the following account:

*There is no entry fee for the Womans and U18 categories as these are being run in adjacent to the standard divisions.

All teams domestic and foreign are welcome to compete in the competition. The competition is a qualification competition for the ECA European Club Championships 2018 being held in Nottingham on September 8th and 9th. The top 2 All Male and All Female Irish club teams who are willing to travel will qualify for the ECA European Club Championships, the following criteria must be upheld first before qualification can be ratified:

  • All clubs must be affiliated with Canoeing Ireland
  • All players must be Canoe Polo Ireland members
  • All players must be registered club players (proof may be required)
  • Mixed Teams are not permitted.
  • Players must have represented the club in at least one domestic event (including Irish Club Champs) this calendar year.
  • Teams will be ratified by the national committee.

In reference to the Woman’s division and U18’s (Mixed) division, players will be able to play in their teams in either Div 1,2 or 3 and also be entered into a team to play in either the Woman’s or the U18 categories.

*Please note that the organiser has the right to readjust categories and move teams depending on entries and competition structures that they choose to implement.


The Pitches are located on Prospect Road (R108), Phibsbourgh Dublin 7 on the Royal Canal behind Des Kelly’s Interiors. From the the M1 verge onto the M50 southbound and get off at Exit 4 and travel south towards the city center on the R108 all the way to the venue, From the N2 continue through the M50 juntion onto the R135 all the way till it verges with the R108 and continue south onto the venue. From the N3 continue through the M50 juntion onto the R147 and travel through Ashtown before merging with the R108 south of the venue. For all other routes (N4, N7, N82 or N11, Eflow will apply) please travel north on the M50 and get off at Exit 6 and travel through Ashtown on the R147 before merging with the R108 south of the venue.

Food and Snacks

The Royal Canal Canoe Club will be running their food tent with a number of different options for players and parents to enjoy, this service will be a free service as part of the entry fee, there may be a few selected options that may require additional charges.

There also a number of restaurants, supermarkets and shops within walking distance of the venue where their are additional options for everyone’s needs.


There are a number of accommodation options for teams who are looking to stay in Dublin.

There are also a number of B&B and Air B&B options within the area.


There is a limited amount of Parking in the car park behind the furniture store and along the canal. please note that anyone who parks in either the car park or along the canal are parking at their own risk and neither Canoe Polo Ireland or the Royal Canal Canoe Club will take responsibility if any issues arise.
