Medal wins for Ireland
Our U21 Mens Canoe Polo team have been busy, notching up Medal wins for Team Ireland. In July, the team took Gold at the Hull International Canoe Polo Tournament, and this weekend, they took Bronze at the De-Paddel International Tournament in Dikkebus, Belgium. That’s 16 Medals for Ireland in the last month!
Over 2 days, the team competed against teams from Europe and USA. After Day 1 the Irish Team were second in their group guaranteeing a top-8 position from the 20 teams taking part. On day 2 they had an amazing run of wins against German, French sides and the Czech U21 team, improving their position and getting to the semi-final. A narrow 8-6 loss to French team Vern Sur Seiche, kept the boys from the Final, but their efforts saw them take Bronze, and their second podium position this summer.
It’s a busy time for the Team, Coach and Manager, they are currently at a training camp in Belgium, and will take part in the Gekko International tournament in Ghent next weekend, before coming home to help at the Overload event, and then heading to Germany in September to take part in the European Canoe Polo Championships.
